Visit Nguyen Qui Duc in Vietnam?

Nguyen Qui Duc, the incredible host of KQED-FM's "Pacific Time," will broadcast his last show on Sept. 14 and then move back to Vietnam not too long after that.

Duc and I downed more than a few drinks together (thanks for the merlot, Duc!) at the Asian American Journalists Association national convention in Waikiki earlier this year and we talked about his departure and future plans. He invited me to visit him in Vietnam and pledged to "take care of me" while I was there. Those quotation marks are two winks.

I don't know if I'm going to be able to make it to Asia this year, but I can at least throw the man an aloha party. You're invited. Now's our chance to say farewell, thank you and aloha to Duc for his contributions to the Asian American community.

The (H)API Hour will be on Friday, August 25, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Dada in SOMA. RSVP on our evite or email me for updates.

And if you missed Vanessa Hua's terrific feature profile of Duc in yesterday's Chronicle, read it online. It's a terrific profile and the front-page placement and generous photos gave the story the prominence it deserved.

Learn more about Pacific Time and how you can catch Duc's few remaining broadcasts at kqed.org.
