San Francisco police chief Heather Fong has been the target of criticisms that rely on style over substance. A group of community leaders are circulating a letter of support that reads in part:
Under Chief Fong’s leadership, the Police Department has pursued a range of reforms to improve police practices and strengthen the Department’s relationship with San Francisco residents. Her reasoned, unflappable leadership has brought stability to The Police Department and increased our community’s trust and confidence in the Department.Throughout her tenure, Chief Fong has maintained the highest level of integrity and always remained accessible to community members – exemplifying the best of public safety leadership.
