Sen. Mee Moua to Keynote 2007 CAA Annual Dinner
Mar 24
Chinese for Affirmative Action, a leading Asian American civil rights nonprofit organization (I serve on the board), will hold its 2007 “Celebration of Justice,” the organization’s 38th annual benefit gala event on June 5, 2007, at the Hyatt Regency San Francisco. Minnesota state Senator Mee Moua will deliver the keynote. See photos from last year’s event and add the 2007 event to your calendar.
Sen. Moua was first elected to the Minnesota legislature in a special election in January 2002, becoming the first and highest ranking Hmong American elected official in the United States. She brought to her job a kind of passion, commitment, energy and drive which quickly made her a respected leader in the Minnesota Senate and in the national Asian American community. Sen. Moua has fought to protect civil rights and to secure funding for crime victims, legal aid and domestic assault services. In the area of education, she’s fought for more child care and early childhood dollars and has lead the charge against rising tuition at our public colleges and universities.
