Watching Obama Make History with Eric Mar and Friends

A special thank you to the crowd that joined us last night at Roe to watch Barack Obama’s historic speech accepting the Democratic Party’s nomination for President of the United States.

The event supported Eric Mar, candidate for San Francisco Supervisor.  Your donations will help this long-time Obama supporter and progressive voice bring the Change We’ve Been Waiting For at the local level in our city government. A portion of the proceeds from last night will also go to Obama delegates Jenn Pae and Brian Wang, and to Obama for America.

If you weren’t able to make it last night, please consider donating to Eric Mar’s campaign:

Very special thanks to:
* Nate Mezmer for co-hosting with me and getting word out to his lists!
* Danny Phelan and all the staff at Roe Restaurant
* Gordon Mar, Sonya Mehta and all the staff from Eric’s campaign
* Anita O., Carly C., Geri-Ayn G., Joy W. and all the volunteers
* SF school board member Jane Kim and SF Supervisor candidate David Chiu for being part of the program
* David Chiu for loaning us an LCD projector
* SF Assessor-Recorder Phil Ting for making himself available to call in from Invesco Field

Barack Obama’s speech last night was just one of many historic occasions this week.

August 26 was the 88th anniversary of the passage of the 19th Amendment, giving women the right to vote.

August 28 was the 45th anniversary of Martin Luther King, Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech.

Today is the third anniversary of Hurricane Katrina’s landfall.  And even as Hurricane Gustav approaches the Gulf Coast, the devastated region still hasn’t received the help it needs to recover.

You can do something about this.  Support ColorOfChange.org in its efforts to pass the Gulf Coast Civic Works Act:
